Early Life Stress
Dr Jon Turner and his collaborators in the Immune Endocrine and Epigenetics group of the LIH, investigate the impact of stress on the development of diseases and aberrant immune reactions. The purpose of the present study is to assess the potential of MRI to reveal the changes in brain structures morphology and physiology induced by early life stress in rats.
Protocols used include FSE 3D T1w and DWI/DTI. MR microscopy scans were acquired on ex vivo brains to achieve high spatial resolution, using 3D printed holders that fix the excised brains. We use commercial softwares and custom scripts written in Matlab to, register brain atlas to the ex vivo brain scans, generate Apparent Diffusion Coefficient and Fractional Anisotropy maps and calculate statistics in subregions of the brains.
